About EarHorn

EarHorn is an iOS baby monitor app that turns two iPhones into a secure audio monitor. Unlike cloud-based monitors, EarHorn streams audio directly between devices over your home WiFi using peer-to-peer technology. Audio data is not sent to the internet. The connection is secured with P-256 elliptic curve cryptography, a widely-used industry standard recommended by NIST, and requires no account, no subscription, and no extra hardware.

What Makes EarHorn Different

• Privacy by architecture — Audio streams peer-to-peer over local WiFi. No cloud servers, no relay infrastructure, no way for anyone outside the home network to access audio.
• No subscription model — One-time purchase in a market dominated by $100+/year subscriptions.
• Pre-roll audio capture — When sound triggers an alert, EarHorn sends the audio that crossed the threshold, not just what came after. Parents hear what woke the baby.
• Smart sound detection — Hysteresis-based filtering requires sustained sound above the threshold to trigger, reducing false alarms from brief noises.
• P-256 mutual authentication — Devices authenticate each other using NIST P-256 elliptic curve cryptography, with keys stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain.
• Multiple simultaneous parents (beta) — Multiple parent devices can connect to one baby device at the same time. This feature is currently in beta testing.
• Audio-only by design — No camera means no video to hack, no nursery footage in the cloud, and significantly better battery life.
